She was born on September 25, 1946, in Whitesville, Georgia, to the late Eunice Talley. She worked in the textiles industry, at Swift Spinning Mills, until she retired. She remained united, in marriage, to U.S. Air Force Sergeant Robert James Hardaway Sr. for 30 years, until his passing.
Annette enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden, watching old western TV shows, and caring for her many cats. In her final days, she expressed her desire “to go home to see Eunice.” She was a very headstrong and determined woman who was going to leave life, her way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Robert James Hardaway, Sr.; her mother, Eunice Talley; and her infant daughter, Gwendolyn Talley Hardaway.
She is survived by her children, Robert James Hardaway, Jr., Stanley Hardaway, Stephanie
Hardaway Jones (Lamont); her grandchildren, Kiera Hardaway, Robyn Hardaway, Rayven Hardaway, Ashjon Rawls, Brandon Brooks, Monty Jones, Mack Jones, and Ann Jones; her great-grandchildren, Kingston MacDuffie, Riley Zegler, Corey Perdue; her brothers, Clarence Ash and Charlie Ash; her sisters, Mary Hardaway, Orelia Ash, JoAnn Ash, and Ethel Lewis.
A Service will be held at 3:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31909 with Pastor Julian Warner officiating. A Visitation for Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service. A Committal will follow at Roe’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 16011 GA-219, Whitesville, Georgia 31833.
