Annie was born in Columbus, GA on March 7, 1941; the daughter of James Ogle and Marie Carter Ogle. Annie was the youngest of 6 children. She spent her childhood in Columbus with her family. She enjoyed walking to the movies and going fishing with her brothers and sisters. Annie worked various jobs including selling Avon and working for Goodwill. The job she was most proud of and got the most satisfaction from was being a mother to her son, Donald. She faced the same struggles as all single mothers, but she provided Donald with everything he needed and some of the things he wanted. She raised him in a home filled with love and kindness. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for Donald when he needed her. Annie bestowed her love of fishing on her son, and together they enjoyed camping and fishing throughout Georgia and Alabama for many years. She always enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with her friends and family. Annie was like a big kid, always wanting those days to be special and those whose birthday it was to feel extra special. She enjoyed watching NASCAR. Her favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. She kept a big poster of Dale Earnhardt hanging in her living room. Annie also enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball. She tried not to miss a game. She kept an Atlanta Braves tag in the front window of her home so everyone would know it was Braves territory. Annie’s favorite meal was fried fish, cole slaw and hushpuppies. She would eat it every day if it were available to her. One day at the end of an appointment with her kidney doctor, the doctor told Annie to stay away from fried foods. She said, “Hehehe. I’m going to Captain D’s to get some fried fish when I leave here!” Annie passed away peacefully with her favorite hospice nurse, Melanie, by her side. Annie lived a long and full life. She was very loved and will be missed terribly by those whose life she touched.
