She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Cynthia Elaine Russell and her grandsons David Shane Jones and Michael Ryan McCoy who were there to welcome her home.
Barbara is loving remembered by her devoted husband Del Poyner, her children Candace Annette Dowis (Court) and Micheal Kenneth McCoy (Jackie), as well as her 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
After many years of dedicated service, Barbara retired from BellSouth. She began her career as a telephone operator and was among the first women to work on the frame, paving the way for others with her determination and strong work ethic.
Barbara found great joy in tending to her yard, where her love for flowers truly blossomed--especially her favorite, yellow roses. She was also a devoted fan of Alabama football, while Del proudly cheered for Georgia, bringing a spirited and loving rivalry into their home. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially her dog Jack, cats Socks and Speedy.
