
Becky Mendenhall, 83, daughter of the late Bessie Jordan Horne and Cato Jackson Horne, died Friday, December 16, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus.
Mrs. Mendenhall was a devoted Christian who worked to know and understand God through study. Compassionate, witty, and charismatic, she valued her family above everything. A loving wife for 54 years, she gave support to her husband, Arthur Allen Mendenhall, throughout his career. She worked as a Secretary for Pastor Glaze of Calvary Baptist Church of Columbus and served as president of the Junior Women's League of Columbus, in which capacity she oversaw the installment of the League's fountain. She also worked as a Secretary for Fourth National Bank and as a real estate agent for Northside Realty. She was a devoted caretaker to her mother and handicapped sister.
Having left Columbus in 1969 for Sandy Springs, Georgia, she and her husband opened a Chevrolet dealership and later established a dealership in Bremen, Georgia. A member of Midway Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, Mrs. Mendenhall was predeceased by her husband. She continued to reside in Alpharetta after his death in 1998.
Mrs. Mendenhall's survivors include her sister, Margie Horne; her five children, Sheryl Mendenhall Roberts, Arthur Allen Mendenhall Jr., JaDon Lee Mendenhall, Rebecka Laura Mendenhall, and Melwood Edward Mendenhall; her seven grandchildren, Kamaron Cunningham Garmon, George William Roberts Jr., Arthur Allen Mendenhall III, Allen Porter Mendenhall, Brett Winston Mendenhall, Ansley Marie Mendenhall, Slade Allen Mendenhall; and her five great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road in Columbus. Flowers may be sent to that address.
