Bertrom Hardy Hunter, Sr., age 91, formerly of Columbus, GA, passed away on December 21, 2016 in Auburn, AL. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Parkhill Cemetery, Columbus, GA. Mr. Hunter was born in Colquitt, GA to Thelma Louise Weed and Gailard Bertrom Hunter on October 26, 1925. He served as a Merchant Marine in WWII, and as a Naval Seabee in the Korean Conflict. He later owned and operated a plumbing business in Ashburn, GA, and retired from AT&T in Atlanta., GA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ike Weed; and his son, Terry Maxwell Hunter. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mildred Gersten Hunter; his children, Bertrom Hardy Hunter, Jr. (Veta) of LaGrange, GA; Frank Edmund Hunter (Renee Stein) of Duluth, GA; Susanne Lynn Silber of Naples, FL; sisters Ellon McKinstrey and Betty Flournoy, both of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Neal Hunter of LaGrange, GA and Megan Diane Hubbard (Travis) of Okinawa, Japan; three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
