Beryl Patterson Holland, 97, passed away on December 27, 2023 at Magnolia Manor. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home in Columbus, GA at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023, with visitation starting at 10:30 am.
“Pat” as she was called by her husband and friends was born on April 8, 1926 in Dothan, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Montevallo with an associate’s degree in bookkeeping. She was the wife of Mason Holland, Sr., who recently passed away on September 2, 2023. Her parents were the late Jessie Mae Stephenson and Quillen Talley Patterson. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Beverly and her husband, Joseph Harvey of Jakin, GA, a brother Charles, a naval pilot lost over the Bermuda Triangle, a sister Mary Virginia and her husband Richard Beauchamp of Dothan, AL, and a sister Janet and her husband Jim Whatley of Pensacola, FL.
Pat was a loving mother of four children and a devoted wife. She was a member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church, where she was happy to volunteer in any way that she could. She was a pink lady at Doctors Hospital, currently Piedmont Columbus Hospital, and at one time president of that auxiliary, where she received the Frist Humanitarian Award. She was an astute bridge player well into her 90s, and was blessed with the proverbial green thumb when it came to gardening. She had many good friends and was always willing to help others.
Pat is survived by a son, Mason Jr. and wife Stephanie of Jasper, GA, a daughter, Beverly and husband John Abel of Cresco, PA, a daughter Carolyn and her husband Richard Schlack of Newark, Delaware, and daughter Sandi Holland of Montgomery, AL. She has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
