Betty N. Burkett, age 77, resident of Dalton, GA, died on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at her residence with her children at her bedside. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 12 noon, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 4-6 p.m. Mrs. Burkett, daughter of the late David T. Folds and Stella Mae Fallendor Folds, was born January 20, 1934 in Columbus. She was retired from Fieldcrest Mills where she served faithfully for several years and was also a member of the Salvation Army Church. Mrs. Burkett was a devoted mother and wife. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earnest M. Burkett, Sr. and also five siblings. Mrs. Burkett is survived by four daughters, Shelia Burkett of Columbus, Cynthia J. Burkett of Phenix City, AL, Tina B. French and husband George B. French of Richland, GA, Pamela E. Phillips and her husband David G. Phillips of Dalton, GA; one son, Earnest M. Burkett, Jr. of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson.
