Betty J. Hansen, age 71, resident of Hamilton, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Thursday, February 9, 2017, 11 a.m. with Reverend Tim Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 4-6 pm.
Mrs. Hansen, daughter of the late Collie Stephen Franklin and Sarah Suggs Franklin, was born September 14, 1945 in Bainbridge, Georgia. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and worked as a bookkeeper for Cataula Storage for many years. Mrs. Hansen is survived by her husband, Richard "Swede" Hansen; one daughter, Lynn Kelly and her husband Randy; two sisters, Pam Robinson and her husband Kenny and Debra Robinson; two granddaughters, Courtney Kelly and her fiance' Michael Woods and Lauren Hsu and her husband Yang; two great-grandchildren, Madison Lynn Woods and Nolan James Hsu; many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1639 Bradley Park, Suite 500, Columbus, Georgia 31904.
