

Betty Pritchard Hasemeier, 103, formerly of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Betty was born on October 24, 1921, in Albany, Ohio to Elizabeth and Edward Greene, where she grew up on the family farm. After graduating from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, she married her husband, Charles Pritchard in 1942. Following World War II, she accompanied him to Austria where she taught Kindergarten at the American School in Vienna. Her life as an Army wife took her to many military installations in the United States as well as tours in Germany and France. She settled in Columbus, Georgia on a permanent basis in 1964 until moving to Florida in 2020 where she lived for the last 5 years at Grand Living Park at Lake Mary Assisted Living Facility.
She was an avid golfer, playing weekly with the Ladies Group at Fort Benning until she was in her 70’s. She participated in the Military Wive’s Club activities at each installation and volunteered at the Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and bowling with her friends.
Betty is survived by her children, Charlene Pritchard Napier (Wally Martin) of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Ambassador/COL (ret) Charles L. “Jack” Pritchard (Jean) of Lake Mary, Florida; her grandchildren, COL Charles L. “Jack” Pritchard, Jr. (Tina) of Valrico, Florida, Jeremy D. Pritchard (Michele) of Macon, Georgia, Neal Napier of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Michael Napier of Lilburn, Georgia; and 6 great grandchildren, Betty Webster (Walt), Jackie Pritchard, Laura Pritchard, Savannah, Charlotte and Gavin Napier.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, LTC (ret) Charles E. “Jack” Pritchard and her second husband, LTC (ret) Jerome B. “Jerry” Hasemeier.
