

Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 12:00 noon, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, followed by Military honors, in Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Mr. Shaw was born on January 6, 1932 in Haralson, Georgia to the late Raymond Shaw and Mary Folsom Shaw. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Shaw, brothers, J.T. Shaw and Curtis Shaw, and a sister, Betty Smith. He was a member of Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mr. Shaw served his country in the United States Army; he was a veteran of the Korean War and retired as a Master Sargent. After his military retirement he taught a 1st Sargent’s course at Fort Benning for 20 years, and worked at Troy State University before retiring.
Survivors include his wife Marjorie Ann Shaw, a sister: Mary (Raleigh) Ivey of Greenville, SC, four sons: David E. Shaw of Philippines, Kenneth (Katherine) Shaw of Virginia, Steven Shaw of Fortson, GA, Raymond (Linda) Shaw of Orlando, two daughters: Rebecca (Jack) Sapp of Eastman, GA, and Carol Traylor of Acworth, GA., seven grandchildren: Stephanie Minshew, Jeremy Shaw, Jessica Shaw, James Shaw, JoAnna Shaw, Triche Traylor, and Joey Shaw, two great-grandchildren: Paisley Clarke and Preston Clarke, two sister-in-law’s, Geneva Shaw and Ursula Shaw and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1953 Torch Hill Road Columbus, GA 31903, or to School Sisters of Notre Dame 170 Good Counsel Dr. Mankato, MN 56001-3138 in memory of Billy Joe Shaw.
