A 1960 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School, Brenda began her career in communications as an operator, then manager, at Bell South Corporation. For decades, she connected people to the conversations they needed to have, and only listened in sometimes for the good stories. When she retired from Bell South/AT&T, she continued her communication experience at St. Francis Hospital. Answering calls was not just a job it was a sense of sacred vocation. Calling for response teams and offering kind reassurance to families on the line brought her joy. Her deep love of connecting people also rang true in the ways she built family. Her marriage to Billy Ray Hall gave her a new title of mother to three wonderful children. The birth of her son Jake, an extremely premature baby, was a pivotal moment for Brenda that forged her into a passionate advocate for babies and parents who experience the NICU.
Following her divorce, Brenda lived out her commitment to form family from the bonds of love. Her home welcomed anyone who had need, and her table was often filled with friends and family. Her faith took root at Beallwood Baptist Church, where her family helped begin a mission church, Beallview Baptist. She became a member of Calvary Baptist Church, raising her son Jake there in the nurture of loving community. In her later years she joined Northside Baptist Church, grateful for her friendships there.
She is survived by her son Jake Hall (Erin, Logan, Tilly, Gideon and Jeremiah), Billy Hall (Patti, Hailey), Penny Mills (Casey, Megan, Alanah), Jon Hall (Jessica, Austin, Katie), many beloved great grandchildren, her niece Teresa Warren Williams (Mitch, Austin, and Erin), nephew Gregg Warren, niece Susan Johnson, niece Debrah Spivey, and niece Karan Williams and many beloved nieces and nephews.
