Columbus, Georgia- Carlton Donald Hildreth Jr. passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013. Funeral arrangements include visitation Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Macon Road in Columbus. The funeral will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Macon Road with Reverend Watson McKemie officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens on St. Mary's Road in Columbus. Pall bearers are Chuck Olson, Danny Kinney, David Cochran, Keith Grainer, Kenny Hyde, Scotty Scott, Stephen Burdick, Steven Schneeberger and Tony Miller.
Carl was born January 5, 1961, in Columbus, Georgia. He attended River Road Elementary School, Daniel Jr. High School, and Jordan Vocational High School. After graduation from high school Carl followed in his Dad's footsteps becoming a Master Electrician. Carl began his career on the oil rig platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. He later moved to Atlanta before moving back home to help build and manage the Panasonic facility in Columbus. Carl later followed a lifelong dream of owning his own business when he purchased The Landing on Lake Harding including his pride and joy, Kokomo's Restaurant. He later sold the business to pursue a career with KIA in West Point, Georgia. Carl most recently accepted a position at Hostess Brands in Columbus.
Survivors include his mother Frances Hildreth, his brother Bobby (Gail) Hildreth of Thomson, Georgia, sister-in-law, Theresa Hildreth, two nephews Justin (Katie) Hildreth, Cumming, Georgia, and Chuck (Michelle) Olson, Enterprise, Alabama, and one niece Lindsey (Seth) Welch, Watkinsville, Georgia, one great nephew, Samuel Olson, and one great niece Landry Welch. Carl was preceded in death by his father Carlton D. Hildreth Sr. and his older brother Kenneth Charles Hildreth.
Carl grew up and was baptized at North Highland Assembly of God church in Columbus. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, friends, girl friend Sherri Free and his beloved golden retriever Koko.
