Catherine Lane Hicks

February 27, 1918- February 26, 2014 Floresville, Texas- Catherine Lane Hicks, age 95, resident of Floresville, Texas and former resident of Columbus, died on February 26, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby , Columbus on Monday, March 10, 2014, 10 a.m. with Reverend Roy White officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 09, 2014 from 3-5 p.m.

Mrs. Hicks, daughter of the late Thomas Watson Lane and Laveta Crouch Lane, was born on February 27, 1918 in Roanoke, Alabama. She was a charter member of Living Grace United Methodist Church (formerly Edge United Methodist Church) for several years. Mrs. Hicks was the first president of Edgewood Women Society and also first president of Edgewood PTA. She was a member of the eastern Star. Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Ezekiel Hicks; a son Donald Arlie Hicks; a brother, Copeland R. Lane. She is survived by one daughter , Shelba Jean Hicks Nethken and her husband M.A. of Floresville, Texas; one son Buren Lane Hicks and his wife Beverly of Channelview, Texas; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; six great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
