Columbus, GA- Charles Wyatt Blanton, 70, of Columbus, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2014.
Mr. Blanton was born May 4, 1944, in Langdale, AL, the son of late Fred Woodfin Blanton and Dorothy Olive Urquhart. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 26-1965 until August 4, 1971. His last station was Grosse Isle, Michigan. After his discharge, he was employed by Ft. Benning Georgia as a fire fighter.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Michael Blanton and Shelly Mathews Blanton of Midland, GA, son Kenneth David Kannady and daughter Kimberly Kannady Hall of Columbus, GA.; grandchildren Lawson Smith Blanton, James Robert Hall Jr., Travis Boyd Hall; brother, Freddie Woodfin Blanton and sister Judy Blanton Taylor of Columbus, GA; nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends and visitors at a reception during visitation on Friday, July 25 from 5:00-7:00pm at Striffler- Hamby, Columbus. A service will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 11:00am at Parkhill Cemetery.
