MSG (Ret.) Charles F. Byrd, 93, passed away on July 1, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
MSG Byrd was born on September 16, 1917 to the late Viola Pearl Ballard in Savannah, GA. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict, retiring after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Maria F. Byrd of Columbus; his two daughters, Janet M. Nichols of Iron River, MI and Lois Ann Haggard of Rhinelander, WI; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
