I was so sad to see this obituary.  I have fond memories of Charlie from high school. He always made you laugh and could be counted on for an honest heart to heart conversation when you needed a friend. I met him on my first day of school in study hall, and he made me feel like I belonged. He was always kind to me. God bless you Charlie, you made the world a better place. 

My elementary and junior high years Charlie was always there. We went our separate  ways after that but some one like him with that smile  and laugh  never forget.

Charlie - It goes without saying that you will be missed by many, and that you spread laughter to everyone that knew you. Laughter is the best medicine, and you could certainly deliver. My fondest memories will always be our close knit group gathered, socializing, and catching up, whether it was at a bar or a BBQ competition, or a friend's backyard. And of course your hilarious stories and perfect comedic timing. I will miss those stories the most. I love you buddy, and I miss you. Vito

  I have fond memories of Charlie as a child and teenager.  He was one of the good ones and he always seemed to be happy.  My heart and my prayers are with you all right now.  

Dear Barbara and Bobo,
My last memory of Charlie was spending
last  Christmas with him at my sister, Ann Crotts’s home.  He was so sweet and nice and seemed to be happy to be with us.
He was really looking forward to starting a new job in Atlanta. He missed his boys but he did not dwell upon sad feelings.

Charlie and I spent some of my best days together. We cut grass in the neighborhood with our own company (we had official flyers), made cheesy stop motion videos with his camcorder, laughed at Beanie’s plaid pants pulled up too high (sack of taters) and sang the Powdermilk Biscuits  jingle more times than anyone would care to hear about (they give shy people confidence).  We listened to Harry Chapin and learned how to buck dance in his living room (gotta tip the hat forward, BoBo taught us that. I have seen pictures of him as an adult in a fedora and I know where he got that from.) He was my closest friend for a few hilarious years and has always had a special place in my heart. I love you, Chuck and know the world is less funny without you in it but I hope your heart is now at peace. 

It was an honor to know Charlie, albeit for a brief time. It was a great pleasure to talk with him after Mass at Our Saviour, and to hear some of his stories. He was also getting pretty darn handy with a thurible. We were looking forward to having him as part of our "young" adult group when the pandemic was over. I am surprised and saddened, but thankfully through faith we can perceive a brighter future for him and for us. Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

I met Charlie at Richards Junior High School.  We were in band together and immediately he became a good friend.   (Yes, we were band-o's.) Charlie did a SPOT ON Mr. Lee impression, our band teacher.  He was one of the funniest and kindest kids I knew back then, and that's something he never outgrew.  

I wish you peace, Charlie.   Thank you for the kindness and laughter you brought to so many lives.

I am sorry to hear the loss of Charlie. I remember Charlie being the first one at Trinity Episcopal Church to befriend me when my father Richard  A. Williams took the Associate Rector position.  Charlie used to go into the main Church and get on the organ playing the creepiest Phantom of the Opera excerpts at high volume! Charlie has always loved the church and brought laughter to everything he did! The guy had the best laugh I have ever heard! Charlie you will be missed by all.

I have great memories of Charlie growing up. I was always visiting Christy and the Griffins next door and we all ended up hanging out together. Lots of laughs and smiles! Charlie was fun loving and kind!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many fun memories growing up with him at Trinity.  During youth group EYC, the beach trips, the Sunday Schools, he always was kind,  funny, and genuine.   I can’t imagine how missed he will be by so many. Please know y’all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was so deeply saddened to hear about Charlie’s passing.  His storytelling and the laughter he brought us all will be greatly missed.  Prayers for peace and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

He did love trains! Those are my Fondest Memories of Charlie. Every time I came to babysit , he was wearing his conductor hat! Prayers for strength and comfort to all that love him!

The bitter, old coffee smell of a Mercedes ( diesel of course).
The hummed melody of “Tangerine”  that oddly, when sang, sounded like “Trampoline”
The slightly burnt taste of a fully loaded Gabby’s hashbrowns plate.
The frigid feel of an Athens Saturday morning (not because it was cold outside, but because a roommate had a love of air conditioning.)
The struggle for breath during story time. (Who knew laughing could actually hurt sometimes?)
The harmony of an organ and guitar with an over abundance of falsetto.
The unavoidably contagious smile of my friend when seeing each other for the first time in a while.

Charlie, I’m going to miss you my friend.    Jaime and I have so many memories of you that we will have forever.  You walked onto our front porch  as if you had always known us even though we had never met.  You brought more laughter and friendship into our life than you know.  Kennon, Shawn, and Ty.  I can’t believe our friend is gone.    To Charlie’s family, Jaime and I are so grateful for the time we had with Charlie.  Thank you for sharing him with us.
