

Charles Lewis Thomas, Jr. July 31, 1931- August 18, 2015 Columbus, GA- Charles Lewis Thomas, Jr., 84, of Columbus, GA passed away August 18, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015, 10:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend David Rathel officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Wynnton Room of Striffer-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road. Mr. Thomas, son of the late Charles Lewis Thomas Sr. and Virginia Tinley Thomas, was born July 31, 1931 in Bristol, VA. He attended King University (formally King College) where he obtained his B.A. in Business Administration and played baseball. Mr. Thomas worked for SH Kress for 27 years, and then worked for Segall and Sons. He was very passionate about buying and selling antiques, so in 1991, he and his wife, Diane, opened Charles & Di Antiques. It was a very successful business for 17 years specializing in American antiques. Mr. Thomas was dedicated to his family, a member of Rivertown Church and was a true sports fan. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jane Countiss. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Diane E. Thomas of Columbus; three children Deborah Miner (Dr. Steven Miner) of Ocean Springs, MS, Stephen F. Thomas (Karen) of Columbus and Karen D. Thomas of Columbus; grandchildren Melissa Miner, Stephanie Miner, John Miner, David Thomas, Sarah Oliver and Brian Oliver; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
