"Charlie Boy"

Charles Wade Hudson, 76, of Columbus, affectionately known as “Charlie Boy”, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services are scheduled on Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Paul UMC at 2:00pm with Dr. Shane Green officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2017 in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby Columbus from 5:00-7:00pm. Burial will follow the service at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson, son of the late Benjamin Beeland Hudson, Jr. and Luella Howell Hudson, was born January 6, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia.

He was a self-employed Home Builder and Developer in the Columbus area and was President/Board Member of the Great Columbus Home Builders Association and Life Director of National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Hudson was also a member of Country Club of Columbus, Muscogee Fishing Club and the Big Eddy Club. He was “Honorary Mayor of Lake Harding”. Mr. Hudson was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He graduated from Columbus High School and the University of Georgia.

Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Brenda Baiers Hudson; daughters, Jodi Hudson Waldrep (Morgan), Collins Hudson Kilgore (Billy); brothers, Benjamin Beeland Hudson III, William Howell Hudson; grandchildren, Will Kilgore, Helen Kilgore, Frank Waldrep, Charles Waldrep, Sam Kilgore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, John B. Amos Cancer Center, or Columbus Hospice.
