Myra Christine Hendrix Flowers, age 92, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was born on December 24, 1932, in Enterprise, Alabama. Her Christmas Eve birth was a beautiful reflection of the warmth, joy, and light she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
Christine was a proud graduate of Jordan High School. She later dedicated her career to Independent Life Insurance Company, where she was known for her dependability, kindness, and steady work ethic before retiring.
In 1954, Christine married the love of her life, James “Jake” Flowers, Sr. Their 71-year marriage was a remarkable testament to faith, devotion, and enduring partnership. Jake lovingly called her “Queenie,” a name that captured the grace, strength, and gentle leadership she embodied in her family and throughout her life.
Christine is survived by her beloved husband, Jake; their sons James “Jimbo” Flowers (Donna) of Columbus and Patrick Flowers of Dallas, GA; and her treasured grandchildren Christopher Flowers (Nicole), Hannah Flowers-Lamb (Vaughn), and Samuel Flowers.
She is also survived by extended family and friends who loved her dearly, including Elizabeth Bass, Debbie Flowers Fortune (Chester), Mike Ballenger and family, and Kim Tye and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Linder Hendrix and Jewel Stanford Hendrix, and her brother, Wyman Hendrix. She was also preceded in death by her beloved cats, Wheezy and Missy, who brought her many years of companionship and joy.
Christine lived a life centered on love, faith, and the joy of sharing meaningful moments with those around her. She delighted in her family, cherishing every gathering, every laugh, and every milestone. Her garden was her special haven—a place where she nurtured beauty with the same gentle care she showed the people in her life. Traveling brought her happiness, especially the adventures shared hand-in-hand with Jake.
She had a quiet and reserved nature, with a quick wit about her. Christine enjoyed karaoke and dancing. One of their sweetest traditions was dancing and singing to Keeper of the Stars, a song that became the soundtrack to their 71 years of love. Her strong Christian faith anchored her life and shaped the kindness, resilience, and warmth for which she will always be remembered.
Christine leaves behind a legacy of love, light, and steadiness. Her presence was a gift, her influence lasting, and her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of her family and friends.
