He was born in Japan in 1938. During his childhood, his family returned to South Korea and settled in Miryang, located in the Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
After graduating from high school, Charles served three years in the Korean Army. Following his military service, he began working as a civilian firefighter with the U.S. Army, where his dedication and hard work led him to become a Fire Department Inspector. In 1986, Charles and his family immigrated to the United States, where he pursued a successful career as a self-employed professional until his retirement in 2018. Throughout his life, Charles was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to his family.
Charles shared nearly 58 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Sun-Ye. Together, they built a loving home and raised two daughters. His eldest daughter, Jungmin Gina Yun, resides in Columbus, GA, where she works as an educator. His younger daughter, Jane Junghee Yun, and her husband, Ho-Seung Lee, live in Peachtree Corners, GA, and are the proud parents of Charles's cherished grandchildren, Jason and Catherine.
Charles will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, perseverance, and dedication to family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have him in their lives.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 28, 2025 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Dr. Buddy Cooper officiating. Burial to follow in Parkhill Cemetery.
