SFC (Ret.) Cline Griffin Reeves, 78, of Rome, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on May 10, 1947, in Rome, Georgia, he was the son of the late Maggie Nola Rampley Reeves and Reverend Milton Griffin Reeves.
Mr. Reeves faithfully served his country in the United States Army for more than 20 years. During his distinguished military career, he earned numerous honors and commendations, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with (60) Device, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, three Overseas Service Bars, Army Achievement Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation. Following his retirement from the Army, he continued his service through Civil Service employment at Fort Benning, Georgia.
After retiring from military service, Mr. Reeves and his beloved wife, Betty Joyce Carter Reeves, made their home in Columbus, Georgia, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
He leaves behind cherished memories with his devoted wife, Betty Joyce Reeves; daughter, Tammy Battle; son, Marty Reeves; son-in-law, Rubin Battle; daughter-in-law, Carmen Reeves; grandchildren, Tiffany Kochanski, Danielle Batson, Anthony Reeves, Jasmine Battle, and Selena Reeves; and eleven great-grandchildren: Jaxon Kochanski, Naomi Turner, Danny Turner IV, Lydia Kochanski, Liam Kochanski, Isaiah Herrera, Calli Turner, Remi Turner, Leilani Nixon, Brixton Reeves, and Kamiyah Williams.
Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Reverend Milton Reeves, and his son, Daniel Ladell Reeves.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation services at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM. A procession will follow to Parkhill Cemetery for a graveside service with full military honors at 2:00 PM.
