

Dr. Crawford Lee Humphrey was born on August 14, 1946, in Warner Robins, Georgia to the late Wylie and Lily Humphrey. He passed on August 4, 2023, in Columbus, Georgia while surrounded with his family, leaving a legacy of faith, service and inspiration. Dr. Humphrey was a beloved pastor and dedicated to his family. He grew up with his siblings, Patricia Bethea and Wylie Humphrey, Jr., with a solid foundation of Christian values and beliefs. Dr. Humphrey married the former Alice Hicks from Cleveland, Ohio, wherein five children were born—Timothy, Gary, Joshua, Brian, and Angela.
Pastor Humphrey graduated from Price High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1964. He continued his studies at Oakwood College (now University) and felt the call to pursue a degree in theology, where he earned degrees in Theology and History. Later, he earned a Master’s Degree in Theology from the International Seminary. He completed his studies when earning a Doctorate in Theology from Brixton University, which marked the beginning of a profound spiritual journey.
In 1983, Pastor Humphrey began working with the South Atlantic Conference as a Bible worker and literature evangelist. He was ordained as a Seventh Day Adventist minister in June of 1987. Throughout his pastoral tenure, he served in various cities within Georgia and the Carolinas:
• Georgia: Atlanta-Westend, Griffin, Athens, Savannah, and Columbus
• North Carolina: Wilmington, Southern Pines, Fayetteville, and Laurinburg
• South Carolina: Marion, Ridgeland, New Covenant, and Beaufort
A visitation for family and friends for Crawford will be held Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Atlanta Berean Church, 291 Hamilton E Holmes Dr NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30318. A celebration of life service will occur Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM, 291 Hamilton E Holmes Dr. NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30318. A graveside service with military honors will occur Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
