

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 1:00pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00pm in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA.
Mr. Hinton was born May 24, 1921 in Manchester, GA, to the late Jones Henry Hinton and Annie Mae Byard Hinton. A lifelong resident of Columbus, GA, he retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning, GA.
After retiring, he was employed as a Park Ranger for Muscogee County and as a Security Guard for Hughston Hospital. Mr. Hinton was a proud World War II Veteran who served in both the Airforce and Army in Europe and the South Pacific. He was a Master Mason and lifetime member of the Columbian Masonic Lodge #7. Mr. Hinton was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Mr. Hinton had many hobbies and interests over the years, but his favorite was Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Frances Virginia Hinton. Mr. Hinton is survived by his brother and sister- in- law Buddy and Rachel Hinton; sister and brother-in-law Martha Ann and Jack Ellis; sons Butch Hinton, and Robert Hinton and partner Douglas M. Turner; daughters and son-in-law’s Cindy and Gaylan Hamilton; Candy and Willard Woolfolk; Wendy and Jeff Houston; grandchildren, Michelle and Andy Hartin, Miles Ashley and Shannon Hamilton, Cybil Hunt, Blake Hamilton, Gini and Dan Davidson, Cain Hamilton, Curtis Warren and Brittany Woolfolk, Annalee Houston, Bekah Houston and Troy Hinton; great-grandchildren Lesey Davidson, Andy Hartin, Alanna Hamilton, Ella Hamilton and Maxwell Davidson, Thomas Hunt, Pierce Hunt; and dearly loved friends, Joe and Pat Lingo.
Graveside interment with military honors will follow the service. The Hinton family would like to invite attendees to a memorial reception in the Mill Room following interment.
The Hinton family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice Services of Columbus, ResCare Home Care of Columbus and especially to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Primary Home Health Care Program. These dedicated professionals touched our hearts with their compassion and made it possible for both of our parents to realize their dream of remaining in their home with dignity.
