

SSG (Ret U.S. Army) David Carlisle Sieg Jr., age 47, resident of Montgomery, died on Friday, February 7, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus, Georgia, on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 1:00 p.m. EST. with Reverend David C. Sieg officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. EST.
Mr. Sieg, son of Rev. David Carlisle Sieg Sr. and Rebecca Merliss Sieg, was born June 21, 1966 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 21 years. Mr. Sieg was awarded many medals, badges, and decorations to include; Air Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), Senior Parachutist Badge, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Air Assault Badge and more. In 2004, Mr. Sieg was also awarded Alabama NCO of the year. After serving his country, he began working for Engility Corp. in Fort Rucker, Alabama. Mr. Sieg was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and Fraternal Order of Police in Eufaula, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Janna Sieg of Montgomery; two daughters, Taytym Sieg and Natalie Sieg of Montgomery; parents, Rev. David and Rebecca Sieg of Blue Ridge, Georgia; brother, Paul Sieg and his wife Elizabeth of Decatur, Georgia; grandmother, Minnie Louise Sieg of Blue Ridge, Georgia; mother-in-law, Patricia Wade and her husband Rocky of Buena Vista, Georgia; other relatives and friends.
