Delinda Diana McCallister went home to be with her Lord at the age of 56 on May 22, 2023. Born June 16, 1966 in Pascagoula, MS, she was nicknamed "Flossy". Delinda lived most of her childhood and teen years in Ocean Springs, MS where she graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1984. She later married and moved to Columbus, GA. She and her former husband, Kevin McCallister, had one child together, Olivia Katlin McCallister, who they adored.
Delinda's favorite pastime was visiting the "Happiest Place On Earth", Disney World. She was particularly a fan of Tinkerbell and became a collector of much Disney memorabilia. Between penny presses and pin collecting, she was forever embattled with the roller coaster fanatics in our group. One of her favorite Disney memories was being cast on the show "Body By Jake" with her Dad "Laaarry" as Jake called him.
Delinda had great talents in cooking, cross stitching and loved teaching preschool children. She was a great listener, loved giving thoughtful gifts, and enjoyed making people feel good about themselves.
Delinda's kind, genuine spirit influenced her to care for others and inspired her to obtain her certification as a Medical Assistant through Columbus Technical College in 2015. She worked for 6 years at St. Francis Columbus Clinic and recently continued her medical career at Concierge Medicine of Columbus.
Delinda was the daughter of Larry Wayne McVeay and Linda Diane McVeay of Pascagoula, MS. Delinda was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, daughter, Olivia Katlin McCallister (Peter), two brothers, Larry Wayne McVeay Jr and Robert Paul (Jackie) McVeay, one sister, Rachael Hope (Alan) Twelkemeier, as well as aunts, multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church on 6/3/23 at 1pm located at 1704 Ladnier Road in Gautier, MS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
