Don Parsons, age 73, resident of Pine Mountain, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 3 p.m.
Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 1-3 p.m.
Mr. Parsons, son of the late Lee Parsons and Margaret Trusler Parsons, was born January 17, 1945 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. He was a USN Veteran and served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era Conflict. After his distinguished military service, he began a career with Civil Service and retired from Fort Benning after many years of faithful service. Mr. Parsons was Baptist by faith and enjoyed quality time with his family. He enjoyed watching sports, particularly Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball; loved raising horses and spending time with animals; enjoyed gardening; and going out to restaurants. He was a quite man who loved deeply and a true patriot of his country.
Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Parsons and a brother, Thomas Parsons. He is survived by his wife, Janet Parsons of Pine Mountain, Georgia; two sisters, Delores Pajaris and her husband Dick of Wilmington, North Carolina and Jo Bell Wilson, also of Wilmington, North Carolina; one brother, Oscar Parsons and his wife Nancy of Warner Robins, Georgia; and well loved nieces and nephews.
