MSG (Ret.) Donald Eugene Armstrong

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA, 31907 with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

MSG (Ret.) Armstrong was born July 23, 1935 in Easton, IL, son of the late Oliver and Opal Carter Armstrong. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 28 years and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. MSG (Ret.) Armstrong also worked with Jay Toyota as a driver. He was an avid collector of rare stamps, hot wheel cars, and coins. We will miss his presence daily, but his memory will live forever in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, MSG (Ret.) Armstrong was preceded in death by three brothers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Armstong; four children, Debra Henderson, Mark Armstrong and his wife Allison, Steve Armstrong, and Marty Armstrong and his wife, Brenda; 14 grandchildren, Jasmine, Devin, Destiny, February, Paisly, Taylor, Aramis, Alexandria, Rowan, Nicole, Danielle, Madison, Dawn, and Zachary; 4 great grandchildren; three brothers, Herschel Armstrong, George Armstrong, and Eddy Armstrong.
