Donald R. Shehane

Donald R. Shehane, age 54, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Columbus Medical Center. Memorial services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 4 p.m. with Reverend Watson McKemie officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 3-4 p.m. Mr. Shehane, son of the late J.W. Shehane and Avie Dell Harris Shehane, was born May 7, 1956 in Columbus. He was a 1974 graduate of Jordan High School and member of Cascade Hills Church. Mr. Shehane began his working career after high school at Bibb Manufacturing. He then worked at Coca Cola for a few years before he started a business, the Corner Stop and Shop in Columbus, where he owned and operated for over 23 years. Besides his parents, Mr. Shehane was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Wayne Shehane. He is survived by one sister, Martha Shehane of Columbus; one niece, Tracy Lowry and her husband Mike of Columbus; three great-nephews, Blake, Jacob, and Kaleb Lowry; numerous other family members and friends.
