Don was born on January 4, 1948, in Dadeville, Alabama to the late Stella Mae Edwards White and Davie White. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Cornelia “Connie” Givens. Don was a career truck driver. Working at Kinnett Dairies, Dolly Madison, Dykes and Sons and later retiring from Wayne Gentry Builders after 25+ years, he knew the meaning of hard work.
He loved drag racing in his younger days and enjoyed going to the “Creek”, NASCAR, fishing and drinking his PBRs. He was a member of the VFW post 5228 and served in the Army from 1968 to 1970.
Survivors to cherish his memories are Debra Hall, Bonnie Mathis, his sisters, Brenda McCormick and Elsie Nash; his brother, Jessie White; many nieces and nephews including Oma Wayne, Wanda, Connie, Daniel and Jessica.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM EST at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 3770 US-431, Phenix City, AL 36868 with a visitation one hour prior. A committal graveside service will follow at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, Tonya, Tae, Sequoia, Shirley, Mackenzie, Tracey and Shay, that gave excellent care and helped to keep him at home and also thank Enhabit Hospice and the special nurses, Chandler and Destiney, that came out the morning of his death.
