Dorothy "Dot" C. Gough

Mrs. Gough was born on October 14, 1926 in Burns, Mississippi to Effie and Lloyd Chisholm.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester (“Chet”) Gough, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Gough were long-time residents of Columbus, moving here in 1971 after Chet’s military career. They were members of Edgewood Baptist Church and were very active in Georgia DAV, Chapter 56. Mrs. Gough retired in 1987 at Fort Benning from a lengthy civil service career.

Mrs. Gough is survived by her children, Michael of Atlanta, Georgia, Debra and husband Richard Gibson of St. Augustine, Florida and Richard and wife Laurie Gough of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren Ashley Hales, Memory, Lauren, Joel and Caitlyn Gough; great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace and Alex Hales; sisters Jean Pierce of Agricola, Mississippi and Ann Howell and husband Lester of Clinton, Mississippi, sister-in-law Sandra Chisholm of Lucedale, Mississippi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32257, for the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine in memory of Dorothy C. Gough.
