Emmett Charles Kennedy

December 9, 1935-August 29, 2014

Columbus, Georgia- Emmett Charles Kennedy, age 78, lifelong resident of Columbus, died on Friday, August 29, 2014 at home with his wife and son after a short time under hospice care. Memorial services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, 11 a.m. with Mark Sasser, Minister of East Highland United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m.

Charlie was born December 9, 1935, the son of the late Emmett and Bonnie Kennedy. He retired from United Cities Gas Company after 41 years of service as Dispatching Supervisor, and attended East Highland United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his step-brother, Bill Grier and two nephews, Billy Joe Grier and Joey Grier. Charlie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marliese Kennedy of Columbus; one son, Jeff Kennedy and his wife Malissa; two granddaughters, Madison Kennedy and Hannah Kennedy, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; other relatives and friends.
