Ernest E. Chichester December 21, 1941 - October 14, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA — SSG (Ret) Ernest E. Chichester, 68, of Columbus passed away on October 14, 2010. Mr. Chichester was born December 21, 1941 to the late Ed Lois and Iva Allman Chichester. He was preceded in death by his sister; Betty Cailor and two brothers, Richard and Earl Chichester. SSG (Ret) Ernest E. Chichester served his country in the United States Army until his retirement after 20 years of service. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the VFW. Graveside services for Mr. Chichester will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Ilona Chichester; daughters, Claudia (Wesley) Arwood of Alachua, FL, Carol (Tim) Samelko of Anchorage, AK, and Tina (Paul) Kirkland of Columbus, GA; sons, Ernest (Pamela) Chichester, Jr. of Crawfordville, FL and Earl (Laura) Chichester of Atlantic Beach, FL; sisters, Donna Carver of Coatsville, PA, Judy Chichester and Bertha Chichester, both of Ottumwa, IA; brothers, Robert Allman of CA, Ralph and Terry Chichester, both of Ottumwa, IA; granddaughters, Emily Fox, Yvonne (Noah) Dittmer, Wendy (Tim) Vander, Megan and Sarah Chichester; two grandsons, Joseph Diaz and Cody Kirkland; one great-grandson, Tyler Vander; two sisters-in-law, Gertrud (Gunter) Noppel and Sharon Chichester; a brother-in-law, Ray Cailor; and several nieces and nephews.
