
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Brad Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in Linwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Woolfolk was born September 17, 1928 in Camp Hill, AL daughter of the late Robert and Kate Langley High. She earned a B.S. Degree in Music and English from Auburn University, and Master’s Degree in Music Special Education from the University of Alabama, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Mrs. Woolfolk worked for the Muscogee County School District as a music teacher, teaching at Richards Junior High School and Carver High School. She played the organ at Wynnton Baptist Church, Wynnbrook Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. Mrs. Woolfolk was also a member of the Columbus Civitan Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior League of Columbus, and GMEA.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woolfolk was preceded in death by her husband, Charlton Eugene Woolfolk, Sr., and a son, Albert Carter Woolfolk, Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Sidney Woolfolk and his wife, Jennifer of Roswell, GA, and Charlton Eugene Woolfolk, Jr. of Columbus, GA; three sisters, Kathleen Land of Dadeville, AL, Pauline Atherton of Baytown, TX, and Mildred Folks of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Charlton Eugene Woolfolk, III, Kaitlin Hyatt, Albert Carter Woolfolk, Jr., William Woolfolk, Frances Woolfolk, and John Woolfolk.
