Gay McQuinn, age 81, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. A visitation for the family and friends for Gay will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:50 PM at Striffler - Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, the service will be officiated by Rev. Mike Reeves. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907-2211.
Gay McQuinn was born January 14, 1943 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Charlie B. Edwards and the late Margaret Christine Cothran of Columbus, GA. Gay cherished her friends and looked forward to being with them to shop, or to go to the Shriner’s hall to play bingo with them, she fancied trips to visit the casinos, and enjoyed cruises. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Springer Opera House for many years, enjoyed dancing the nights away at the VFW, as well as spending quality time with her family. Gay will forever remain a beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt.
She is preceded in death by: her mother, Christine Cothran; father, Charlie B. Edwards; step-father, Addison Cothran; step-mother, Faye Edwards; sister, Brenda Barbee; and her brother, Michael Edwards; brother-in-law Nicholas Barlow.
Survivors include her son, David L. McQuinn, Jr. and his wife Tonette of Columbus; brother, Philip Oliver; sister, Leinda Barlow; brother, Walter (Toni) Edwards; sister, Barbara (Ron) Hanes; brother, Joe (Vicki) Cothran; her grandchildren Casey Blake McQuinn and his wife, Peytanne, and Brandon Lee McQuinn; her great-grandchildren Kayli Blake-Madison McQuinn and James Parker McQuinn; nieces, nephews and many friends.
