Gerald Starling

Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Friday, April 29, 2011 in Striffler - Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, 4071 Macon Road with interment in Parkhill Cemetery. Rev. Vern Jordin will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home.

Mr. Starling was born May 12, 1929 in Columbus, GA the son of the late Willie Dorman Starling and the late Connie Welsh Starling. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus and a Korean Conflict veteran of the U.S. Army where he received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Starling was retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Britt David Baptist Church, Rose Hill Masonic Lodge # 484 and the Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by two sons, J. Wayne Taylor and Danny E. Taylor; a sister, Ruth Tinsley.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Underwood Starling; a son, Sammy Gerald Starling and his wife, Wanda of Columbus; a sister, Jeanette Bussey of Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, Tracee Roslonowski and her husband, Greg of Long Island, NY and Bradley G. Starling and his wife, Dana of Columbus; five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Sarah and Gregory Roslonowski of Long Island, NY, and Jacob and Cody Starling of Columbus; a special niece, Brittany Nicole Underwood of Ellaville, GA.
