

Helen Louise Smith, 88, of Fortson, GA, passed away Friday, August, 28, 2015 at Gentiva Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Service is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Billy Duncan, Reverend John Rigby and Reverend David Helms officiating. Interment will be private at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00-5:00 PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby.
Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late William J. Rigby and late Lurline Mae Treadaway Rigby, was born July 17, 1927 in Columbus, GA. She was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was involved in Youth Ministries and was the favorite chaperone. She was very sociable, loved people and always wanted to help. Mrs. Smith was the first one to gravitate towards others in their time of need. She enjoyed music and flowers, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Thomas C. Smith, Sr., and her brother Edward L. Rigby. Survivors include her children Susan H. Burdett (Donnie) of Newnan, GA, and Tommy Smith, Jr. (Carol) of Fortson, GA; grandchildren Mitchell Burdett (Lacie), Jonathan Burdett (Jennifer), Chas Greer, Rachel Nixon (Shawn), Gerad Smith, Stephanie Smith and Jillian Smith; great grandchildren Kayla Rose Burdett, Zach Greer and Warren Nixon; sister Livvia Pearl Edenfield; brother Reverend John Rigby (Margie); sister-in-law Ruby Rigby; other relatives and friends.
