Henry Sutherland

Columbus, GA – Henry Sutherland, 84, passed away on September 3, 2014. A rosary is schedule for Friday, September 5th, at 6:00pm at St. Anne Catholic Church on Kay Circle. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th, at 10:00am at St. Anne, with inurnment immediately following at Park Hill Cemetery on Macon Road. A reception will be held afterwards in Visitation Hall at St. Anne.

Henry Sutherland was born in Trinidad and Tobago and immigrated to the United States with his family in the late 1960s. He resided in Detroit, MI for a few years and also lived in San Diego, CA for a couple of years during the late 1970s before moving back to Detroit. He retired to Trinidad in the early 1990s and moved to Columbus in 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Janie Sutherland, brothers Hubert, Alexander, and Walter; sisters Virginia, Christiana, Ambrozine, and Rita.

He is survived by his spouse Cerelia; his sons, Edmund Sutherland (Emily) of Columbus, Kendon Sutherland (Judith) of San Diego, and Farron Sutherland of the Philippines; daughter, Caroline Oja (Steven) of Detroit; grandchildren, Farron, Jr. and Daniel Sutherland, and Jessica (Jayson) Teague; Christopher and Carmen Sutherland; Laurel, Jaclyn, and Jessica Oja; and Avery and Addison Sutherland; brothers Robert and Herman; sisters Imelda, Marie, and Linda; and numerous extended family members and loving friends.
