Graveside funeral services with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Yawn was born on August 30, 1927 in Wilcox County, GA. to the late Henry Thomas Yawn and Ada Lee Lowery Yawn. He has been a resident of Columbus since 1963 and was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service. After his Military career he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for next 20 years. Mr. Yawn begin his final career where he was employed by Winn Dixie. He was a faithful member of
Second Baptist Church and a member of the Columbian Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his 4 children, Emmie Mayhand (Rex) of Cataula, GA, Melinda Starnes (Charles) of Auburn, AL, and Yvonne Johnson of Douglasville, GA, and Henry F. Yawn (Lynette) of Cary, NC, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
