

SFC (Ret) Jack Talbert, age 79, resident of Upatoi, Georgia, died on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his residence. Graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, 2 p.m. with Reverend Larry Rollins officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 5-7 p.m.
SFC Talbert, son of the late Homer Christopher Tolbert and Pearl Evelyn Boartfield, was born March 13, 1936 in Dahlonega, Georgia. He was retired from the U.S. Army, where he served his country honorably for over 20 years. During his distinguished military career, he served in both Vietnam and Korea and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal w/2 bronze stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 device; Korea Service Medal; many other ribbons and awards. After his retirement from the military he began a new career where he owned and operated Golden Cue Family Recreation Center. He was a member of East Highland United Methodist Church.
SFC Talbert was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Tolbert. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emi Talbert of Upatoi, Georgia; one son, USAF (Ret) Dave Talbert and his wife Jacqueline of Westminster, Maryland; one sister, Bobbie Jean O’Brien and her husband James “Obie” of Dahlonega, Georgia; one granddaughter, Amber Talbert of Hanover, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Jacob Talbert of Hanover, Pennsylvania and SSgt (USAF) Joshua Talbert and his wife Natalie of Anchorage, Alaska; one great-granddaughter, Kallianna Elizabeth; one great-grandson, Aiden Michael; brothers-in-law, Katuyasu Domon, Makoto Domon, and Yuzuru Domon; sister-in-law, Yhiyo Domon; nieces, Nahoko Domon and Aya Domon; nephews, Sumiko Domon and Taketo Domon; cousin, Tomoko Asanuma; special neighbors and friends, Sandra and Lamar Beck, Barbara Register, Ruby and Richard Rumley, George and Betty Kyser, Beth McKinley, and Curtis and Lester.
