James Russell Campbell

Russell graduated from Maynard Evans High School in 1979. He worked as an auto mechanic at Firestone for over 30 years and served honorably in the U.S. Army and Navy. Russell was actively involved in attending Mt. Calvary church with his wife, cooking Korean food, fishing, video gaming, and astronomy. Russell was a quiet, stoic man but also very caring. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy and served his country with honor. He enjoyed visits from his grandchildren, gaming with friends, and spending time at home. Russell fought hard against prostate and bladder cancer since early 2022 and he will be remembered fondly by all those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Elden Lambert and Fred Archie Campbell, and several brothers and a sister. Russell’s loving wife, Pyong Yo Campbell passed away on May 15, 2020, and he has missed her dearly everyday since.

James is survived by his stepchildren, Johnny Fincham, Jeanie Fincham and David Fincham and his niece, Amanda Boisvert, and step-grandchildren, Kaelan Fincham, Jace Fincham, Kaiya Weston, Rylan Fincham, Owen Fincham, and Brycen Fincham.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Parkhill Cemetery 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907 on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 3:00pm.
