

James Byron "Jim" Lipham, 69, of Columbus, Georgia passed away September 27, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of Columbus with the Reverend Scott Tucker and the Reverend Jeff Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of Columbus.
Jim was born on September 12, 1948 in LaGrange, Georgia, the son of Howard Bradley Lipham, Sr. and Cleo Dukes Lipham. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and West Georgia College. After 27 years of dedicated service, he retired from Total System Services, Inc. (TSYS) in December 2014 where he served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining TSYS, he served as Vice President and Assistant Treasurer of Synovus Financial Corp.; Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of First Federal Savings and Loan in Columbus; and Senior Accountant at Ernst & Young. Jim was currently serving as a member of the boards of West Georgia College, Columbus Hospice, Green Island Country Club, and St. Mark United Methodist Church. He previously served as a board member of China Union Pay Data, board member and Audit Committee Chairman of Syniverse Technologies, Inc., a member of the Board of Trustees of the State University of West Georgia Foundation, and Treasurer of Columbus Habitat for Humanity.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jim is survived by his loving wife Florence; daughter Melissa Lipham Malloy (Frank) of Columbus; grandchildren Ansley Cason, Collin Cason, and Alexis Malloy, all of Columbus, and Corey Commander of Phenix City, Alabama; brother Brad Lipham of Franklin, Georgia; sister-in-law Charlene Multach of Tampa, Florida; nephew Rocky Lipham (Marnie) of Peachtree City, Georgia; several other nieces and nephews; and many wonderful lifelong friends.
