James Lawerance McDevitt February 8, 1952 - November 3, 2010 COLUMBUS, GA— James Lawerance McDevitt, age 58, passed away on November 3, 2010. Memorial services will be held Monday, November 8, 2010 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus, GA at 1:00 PM. Inurnment will follow at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice, 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904. Mr. McDevitt was born on February 8, 1952 to the late William Phillip McDevitt and Dorothy Baker McDevitt. He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and continued his service until 1994 where he retired as Sergeant First Class. Mr. McDevitt was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed watching football. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Sue McDevitt and a brother, William P. McDevitt.
