James Lawson Moore, age 85, resident of Columbus, died on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled in the Mill Room of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, 3 p.m. with Reverend Stephen Brinkman officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Moore, son of the late Dewey Lawson Moore and Annie Chance was born February 7, 1929 in Andalusia, Alabama. He was a lover of fishing in his spare time. Mr. Moore worked for Chancellors in Columbus for many years before retiring. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtis Corbitt Moore; daughter, Kathy Moore Layfield (Ben); son, Gary Lawson Moore (Connie); brother, John Nelson Moore; grandchildren, Cybil Moore, Ben Layfield, Blake Layfield (Lindsey); other relatives and friends.
