James was born on December 11, 1946, to Elinor and James Woodall in Columbus, Georgia. James attended Columbus High School. He went to work right out of high school, but ultimately went back and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Columbus State University in his early 50s. James met the love of his life, Linda C. Woodall, while in high school and they were later married in 1965. They would have been married for 60 years this summer. James gave everything he could to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a loving, devoted, and loyal husband and father. He always set the example of unconditional love for his family.
At a young age, James traveled with Dad on trips for his business, Highway Map Company. Through those experiences, he learned how to interact with people and clients and develop his sales skills. Sometimes his brother-in-law, Stan Colquitt would accompany them. They both have fond memories of these trips together. He enjoyed his work and spent more than the last decade of his career in the printing business, ultimately serving as the President and CEO of Communicorp in Columbus. He served on several boards in Columbus over the years including the AFLAC Credit Union and Goodwill Industries. James loved racquetball, especially playing with his son, Jimbo, who was an excellent racquetball player. He also enjoyed playing golf with his son, Neil, who holds those memories with him dearly.
James is preceded in death by his son, James C. Woodall, Jr.; his parents, James F. Woodall and Elinor Glenn Woodall; and his siblings, Elinor Davis, Ethel Grimes, and Nancy Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Woodall; his son, Michael Neil Woodall; his grandchildren, Arthur Neil Woodall, Miles Colquitt Woodall, Michael James Woodall (Tyler), Jason Cale Belford, and Camille Larue Belford; and a great grandson, Isaac James Woodall, who is expected to arrive in May.
