Jane (Akin) Edwards

Jane was born October 11, 1929 in Opp, Alabama to Mattie Lucille Akin (Ingram) and Lewis E. Akin. She was married to the late Travis L. Edwards on January 3, 1946 until his passing on August 3, 1996. She worked at Black Insurance Agency as the office manager and retired after 48 years. Jane was Christian by faith and attended the Shepherd of the Mountains Church in Murphy, North Carolina, she had previously attended St. Peter UMC of Columbus, Georgia. She moved to North Carolina to be close to her daughter, Pamela.

Jane was preceded in death by: her husband, Travis L. Edwards; father, Lewis E. Akin and mother, Mattie Lucille Ingram; brother, Lewis Grimes; brother, Foy Grimes and sister, Lucille McCroan.

Jane is survived by: daughter, Pamela Crisp (Bill); son, Michael Edwards (Gloria); sister, June Russell (Earl), sister-in-law, Carolyn Grimes and sister-in-law, Patsy Grimes; grandson, Joshua Guske (Stephanie) granddaughter, Amanda Brendle (Gary), several nieces, nephews, and other relatives to cherish her loving memory.

A visitation for family and friends for Jane will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 5:50 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, followed by a Remembrance Service at 6:00 PM with Reverend J. Grantham officiating. Burial will be in Parkhill Cemetery.
