

Janet Thomas, 83, of Columbus, Georgia entered her heavenly home on May 26, 2024. Janet Thomas was born in Talbot County, Georgia on March 3, 1941 to the late Margaret and Emmitt Jones. She graduated in 1959 from Ruth Carter High in Talbotton, GA. She married Sergeant First Class (Retired) Alfonso E. Thomas in Leesville. LA in 1963 and remained his faithful and loving wife until his death in 2001. She worked for Fieldcrest Cannon Corporation for 37 years. She loved to do crossword puzzles and watch her favorite daytime programs such as The View, Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, and General Hospital. She loved to watch AL Sharpton on the weekend and most of all she loved her God and her church. She attended Baptist with Rockola Ministries in Woodland, Georgia where she served in various church position and held a church secretary position early in her Christian experience. She was so excited to get to church on Sunday morning and would tell church jokes. She always had fun at church and would make sure family called her before 11 am and after 3 pm so it wouldn’t interfere. Janet loved her family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Janet Thomas is survived by a loving daughter, Reverend Sherry A. Jones of Columbus. GA; one Granddaughter, Joy A. Taylor and husband Jameel; one Great-granddaughter Mya all of Smith Station, AL; two Brothers, Emmett Jones, Jr and wife Sherri of Rialto, California, William Jones and, wife Ruby of Talbotton, GA; two sisters, Peggy Stinson of Box Springs, Ga, and Venora Jones of Manchester, Ga. Also, Nieces, Newphews; Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews, and a host of Relatives, cousins and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
