
Mr. John Elbert Driver, age 74, passed away on January 2, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. A Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Father Frank Patterson officiating. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Susan Calhoun, 3001 Meadowview Drive, Columbus.
Mr. Driver was born on October 22, 1937 in Columbus to the late Edmund Bradley and Virginia Flowers Driver. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Driver served in the administrative department of Columbus Regional Medical Center until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as an usher and volunteered. Mr. Driver was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devoted University of Georgia fan. Mr. Driver was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Calhoun Driver of Columbus; three daughters, Nancy Driver King and her husband Dean of Columbus, Susan Driver Calhoun and her husband Jess of Columbus and Kathryn Driver Yow and her husband Steve of Fairhope, AL; one son, John Elbert Driver, Jr. and his wife Renee of Valdosta, GA; one brother, Edmund Bradley Driver, Jr. of Columbus; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dialysis Clinic Inc., 2424 Warm Springs Rd # B, Columbus, GA 31906 or to Holy Family Catholic Church, 320 12th Street, Columbus, Georgia 31901.
