John D. Holland

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA- John D. Holland, 83, passed away on February 4, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 8, 2013 in Parkhill Cemetery, according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Mr. Holland was born, October 17, 1929 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late George Washington Holland and Peggy Ann Moulton Holland. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Holland worked at Ft. Benning in Civil Service for over 40 years, before his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be missed dearly. Mr. Holland was preceded in death by a son, Michael Clay Holland.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy M. Holland of Columbus; seven children, Terry Holland and his wife, Lynda of Columbus, Christy Hovey and her husband, Leonard of Columbus, Mark Holland and his wife, Penny of Salem, AL, Ginny Mayher and her husband, John of Midland, GA, Tracy Edwards and her husband, Dwayne of Pikeville, NC, Keith Holland and his wife, Janet of Ft. Mitchell, Al and Clay Holland and his wife, Jennifer of Columbus; twenty grandchildren, Heith, Rose, Micah, Dawny, Kara, Lance, Rayna, Laura, Daniel, Tiffani, Ashley, Kim, Mindy, Todd, Vanallen, CodyLee, Madeline, Miley, Christopher and Cymbree; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a sister, Nell Faulk of Columbus; a brother, Jack Holland and his wife, Rhio of Alvaton, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
