John David Simmons

John David Simmons, age 78, of Hamilton, GA passed away on October 13, 2018. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus. Interment will be in Parkhill Cemetery.

Mr. Simmons was born on July 28, 1940 in Cordele, GA. He is the son Frank Simmons Sr. and Bessie Rowland Simmons. He worked as a broadcast engineer with WRBL and several radio and TV stations both locally and across the country. John went on to start his own business, Simmons Communications. This business, his skills, and knowledge took him all over the United States and around the world, including, Nigeria, Bosnia, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, installing and repairing radio and television transmitters. He retired to build a home and live with Connie in Hamilton, GA. In his later years Mr. Simmons was a member of Roosevelt Memorial Church of Pine Mtn. Valley.

He was preceded in death by: his son, Allen Simmons, and his parents. Survivors include: his wife, Connie Simmons, two sons, Chuck (Wendy) Northington, Keith Northington; his grandchildren, Lauren (Brian) Snellgrove , Kaleb Northington , Jessie Northington , Kali Northington, Paige Northington , Janie Northington; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers Dwaine(Jan) Simmons, Frank(Charlotte) Simmons: and a sister Ramona Laird.
