John was born in Columbus, Georgia on November 14, 1945, to his parents, James Lavender and Josie Ruth (Allen) Wangle. He attended Baker High School in Columbus. After high school in 1964, he married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia Gilley Wangle together they moved to Atlanta, Georgia. He worked until retirement with Consolidated Freightways. After retirement, he continued to work with the Local Teamsters on various movie locations. John was also an active member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge and South Fulton Shriners for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. On most weekends, he could be seen watching a Nascar race and the Georgia Bulldogs who were his favorite.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers and sister.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Gay, Georgia; children, Lori Wangle Simmons of Suwanee, Georgia; Jeff and Stephanie Wangle of Thomaston, Georgia; Lisa and Paul Hodnett of Graceville, Florida; grandchildren, Ashleigh, Austin, Laine, Alexis, Jackson, Madison, Cheyenne, Jeffrey, Jr, Kayla, Emma, Alison, Nathan, Blayne, Emily; great grandchildren, Avalee, Aislyn, Alayna, and Jarett along with brothers and sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews.
